Find your code & authority

Which safety authority governs you, which edition of the elevator code is actually in force where you work, and where to get permits.

Read this first. Adopted code editions and dates vary by jurisdiction and change over time. This page is a starting point, not legal or compliance advice — always confirm the current edition and requirements with your safety authority (linked on each card), which is the source of truth. Every entry below was verified against the authority's own page or the governing regulation. Last verified: June 1, 2026.

United States

In the US, the elevator code is adopted state by state (sometimes city by city), and the edition in force varies widely — so we won't list a single date here. Start with your state's elevator board or department of labor, and for the inspector side see NAESA International. We're happy to add specific states once we can verify each from the official source.

More provinces & territories coming as we verify each from its authority. Spot something to fix? Tell us on the forum.
